tracking things
a few weeks ago, i saw a youtube short of a girl going through a slideshow of charts tracking her pooping and crying habits over the past four years. i watched it like 10 times, and i just like super duper wished that i had done the same. this is why i have decided that this is gonna be my new year's resolution (but just for the month of january to make it more attainable).
i've been hunting for an app that has all the fields i would want because i can't do it on google sheets or excel spreedsheets because i can't do it from my phone and if i can't do it from my phone i won't do it at all, and that's seriously true. i wouldn't like for it to be that way, but i know what i will and definitely will not do, and i see myself harmlessly skipping one day and then never doing it again. i'm gonna try out making a page on here dedicated to it, and do a little test run trying to get through the end of this month.
the only question in my mind right now is what i should track. i definitely want to track tv shows and movies (because i was watching new girl today and my roommate said she specifically remembered this episode i was watching because i had done a full lap of new girl since coming to college which is crazy and then i said "there should be a spotify wrapped but hulu" because i watch most my shows on hulu), poop, crying, maybe music (because i don't have spotify so i don't get a spotify wrapped), and days spent sick. if anyone has any other things that seem like they would be fun to track you should for sure let me know.

things i want but i can't ask for for the holidays
1. lime g3 imac
i mean, have you seen it? it's perfect. it's the most adorablest of computers. they name all the colors fruit because they're all so cute. i just think the lime one is the cutest. i want it so so so so so bad. one day i will have it, when i have my own place to keep it, but i can't have it now because it won't fit in my dorm obviously. here are some photos of it:
i'm so sorry if you're reading this, and you are also in a spot where you can't have one of these. after witnessing what you just witnessed, it's probably looking like it's irresistable, and you want one with a passion that cannot be stopped. i'm sorry for passing this terrible curse onto you, but everyone needed to know how much i want this thing.
2. sony digital mavica mvc-fd7
it's just the coolest camera ever. here are some pictures of it:
unfortunately, since it puts all the pictures onto a floppy disk, there would be no way for me to actually see the photos that i would take on it because i don't have a computer that knows how to do the floppy disks. even if i had my lime g3 imac, i couldn't even get the photos because it was the first model of a mac that didn't have a floppy disk drive. it's so so so sad.
3. money
i'm a jobless college student, and i really would enjoy having some more money, but every time i tell everyone i want money, they get all bitchy about it because they wanna get me something cool. you know what would be cool? if everyone got me like five bucks, i swear. my family is ginormous. i would make a fortune. here are some pictures of it:
4. a really cute friend group
i really want friends so so so bad. i just want people that don't talk to me that much, and i don't talk to them that much, but we're in the same room all the time and we eat meals together and occasionally we'll do a cute activity together. we walk to walmart, we rent dvds from the library, we cook.
5. to be intelligent
maybe not entirely intelligence, just good grades. i just want good grades. i don't have to be smart, i just need the willpower to work hard enough for the good grades.
6. for everyone to ditch their smartphones and get flip phones from walmart
this way, i could use my flip phone all the time and i could ditch my smart phone and we can take 10 minutes to send a text and snap the lid shut at the end of calls and have nerdy phone holsters. please please please please please please please. i want this so bad. i want this more than a lot of people want a lot of things.
7. for evil people to be thwarted
self-explanatory

who asked? - questions i wish people asked me and the answers to them
1. what piercings do you want?
thank you so much for asking! right now, the piercings i want the most are a bridge piercing and a vertical labret. i got my first piercing(that i remember getting pierced because i got my ears pierced as an infant) in june, which is a nose piercing, and my mommy said i can get more piercings after this one heals. unfortunately, three weeks after i got this piercing, my little cousin kicked it, and it has had a bump ever since. i know this is like a pretty easy piercing compared to the bridge and the labret, and, if i can't get this one to heal properly, then i probably won't be able to handle them, but they just look so cool, and i want them so bad.
2. toilet paper- over or under?
thank you so much for asking! over.
3. toilet paper- how many squares?
thank you so much for asking! if it's like nice toilet paper at home, three squares is the amount you need. you wrap it around two fingers, slide it off, and then fold it. however, if you are out and about and you have single ply toilet paper to deal with, you wrap it around your two fingers until it feels as thick as your three squares of fancy toilet paper, and that's how much you use.
4. what do you like to do while you watch tv?
thank you so much for asking! i like to crochet, knit, sew, just generally craft while i watch tv. sometimes, i'll even play my bass while i watch tv to build some muscle memory. recently, i started playing animal crossing while i watch tv, which is pretty fun.
5. what shows do you watch over and over again?
thank you so much for asking!
i watch:
- the office
- parks and rec
- brooklyn 99
- community
- friends
- seinfeld
- new girl
- daria
- glee
- good omens
- what we do in the shadows
- our flag means death
- flight of the conchords
- broadchurch
- hannibal
- doctor who (nine and ten's seasons)
- sherlock
- the it crows
- spaced
over and over again.
6. what movies can you watch over and over again?
thank you so much for asking!
i watch:
- rocky horror picture show
- dirty dancing
- annie
- grease
- mary poppins
- matilda
- madagascar
- madagascar 3
- megamind
- frozen
- pitch perfect
- amelie
- being john malkovich
- donnie darko
- eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
- shaun of the dead
- hot fuzz
- the world's end
- back to the future
- the breakfast club
over and over again.
7. what characters from tv shows and movies do you think you are similar to?
thank you so much for asking!
i think i'm pretty similar to:
- daria morgendorffer from daria
- abed nadir from community
- nick miller from new girl
- saiki k from saiki k
- L from death note
- zero from tear along the dotted line
- sherlock holmes from bbc sherlock
- april ludgate from parks and rec
- hawkeye from m*a*s*h (on occasion)
- donnie darko from donnie darko
- amelie from amelie
- nathan fielder from nathan for you
8. if you could have any two superpowers, what would they be?
thank you so much for asking! my first superpower would be communication. i am able to communicate with everything in the quickest way they know how. i can talk to everyone in their native language, and my body language perfectly represents how i feel at all times. this could get me into all kinds of trouble for being too blunt, but who cares. at least everything's out in the open. my second superpower would be time. i can speed up, slow down, pause, and play time at my will. this would just make my life better i think. the world would be better, if i never truly had to meet any deadlines and i never had to worry about being late. the only caveat is that i can't lend this power to anyone else, so people can't experience it along with me. i also can't rewind or redo anything, but i feel like that wouldn't be worth it anyways. i also don't age differently to anyone else.
9. what pets do you want?
thank you so much for asking!
i want:
- cats
- dogs
- snails
- snakes
- ferrets
- guinea pigs
- rats
- snakes
- geckos
10. if you were to be any animal/creature, what would you be?
thank you so much for asking! i would be a fruit fly.

i was born to be a bartender
today, i had an epiphany. i am way way way too stupid to be a doctor. like, i am so so so dumb. who told me that i could be a doctor? why'd they do that? they are literally stupid for saying that.
i cry and i cry and i cry because i am too dumb to be a doctor. why? because i set my expectations way too high.
right now, i'm gonna set my expectations right where they belong.
if you've ever seen new girl, and you know who i am, i am nick miller from new girl. he is me. we are one and the same. he went to college, and he went to law school, and he passed his bar exam, and he chose to be a bartender. even if i go to college, and i go to med school, and i complete my residency, i might chose to be a bartender. that would be batshit crazy, but it's okay. i support future me, if that's the path they chose.
this isn't coherent, and i understand that, but the point is that i'm not gonna have a 4.0, and my professors aren't gonna love me (besides my german one who thinks that i'm smart), and i won't be completely mentally stable, and i won't work out, but it'll all work out. one day, i'll have my life figured out, and i'll live somewhere, and i'll have friends, and i'll be okay. that's all i really want.

i'm sick *cough* *cough*
today, i am dying. yesterday, i was dying, but it was the kind of dying you can ignore for a little bit up until the last bit.
i had this pre-med webinar to help you pick which schools to apply to that i fell asleep during. i only woke up when my roommate got back from her acappella rehearsal. when i woke up, my head was throbbing like no other headache i've had in my whole life. it was so so painful, and i was getting hungry. i decided that the best thing for me would be to make ramen. cause soup helps sick, so i made the ramen. my desk was such a mess that i couldn't eat it on there so i was eating it on my bed. i was also super cold so i put my coat on and leaned forward too far and spilled my soup all over my bed. i then took all of my sheets to the washing machine and called my mom. i set up a sleeping bag on the ground and passed out. when i woke up to get my laundry, my entire body felt so crazy weak that i couldn't even put the sheets on my bed. i passed out on the ground after taking some nyquill.
when i awoke, it was 9 am, so i already couldn't go to german class. i checked my phone, and my mom had texted, called, emailed, find-my-iphoned, just basically anything you can do to try and ask if i was awake for my first class which i definitely wasn't. i made it to my math class, which i passed out during and someone had to wake me up at the end of it. i went back to my room and put on glee before texting in my next class's group chat for someone to tell the teacher i was sick and couldn't make it. i promptly fell asleep after watching one of the worst episodes of television: the rocky horror picture show episode of glee. this was at 11 am, and i didn't wake up until 7pm.
i got dinner with a friend. my mommy called to tell me to check if i ever got the meningitis shot, which i did. phew, right? wrong! it expired on august 4th of this year! i'm gonna die of meningitis! i'm the world's biggest hypochondriac! even if i don't have it, my body is gonna mimic the symptoms because i'm gonna believe it so hard!
if you're out there, and you believe in god, which i don't, please pray for me so i don't die of this extremely deadly illness that kills you in a matter of hours. if i never post again, you know why. farewell, my good friends! if you believe in reincarnation, which i don't, i will be posting about this on my next blog as a five year old baby in 6 years. if reincarnation is real, i'm for sure gonna be a child prodigy.

why does myc like dirty dancing so much???
let me set the stage. it's tuesday of last week. the deterioration of my mental health over the past week is weighing on me. failing an exam shouldn't be so bad, but it's killing everything good in my life. it doesn't matter, though because i'm home now, and i don't have to worry about chem right now. i need to escape.
i turn on the tv and navigate to hulu to watch new girl.
i started the show over last week because i wanted to watch dirty dancing because failing that test felt like a bad break up but i couldn't watch dirty dancing because i didn't have peacock. peacock is on this tv. i should watch dirty dancing.
and watch it, i did. i think i totalled five times watching it over the span of five days. one of which i watched it twice in one night. i don't know what it is about the movie that was so deeply healing, but i'll try to put it into words as i vividly explain everything i love about this movie.
#1: Baby
the first thing i love about this movie is Baby. what an awesome awesome female lead for a movie. i mean, Baby starts out the movie as this naive upcoming freshman in college, determined to change the world for the better. she's going to mount holyoke in the fall to study economics, and her goal is join the peace corps. throughout the movie, her family makes jabs at her for being a little social justice warrior. she's just so girlboss.
the thing about Baby that's so appealing to me is her ability to wiggle her way into people's lives. in the beginning, the staff at Kellerman's has a lot of secrets, and somehow, Baby makes her way to knowing all of them within the span of like two or three days. i know that you're meant to suspend your disbelief for the sake of the movie, but something in my mind makes me believe that there's some secret way she's able to make people like her. she never sucks up or obsesses, she tells people how she feels and almost everything works out for her. i wish that was a power i had. it's satisfying to watch her be good at it.
#2: Johnny
Johnny is a great love interest for Baby. he represents growth and change in Baby's life. Johnny points out everything wrong with Baby as soon as he meets her, criticizing her sense of righteousness coming from an area of privelege and her belief that there is a solution to every problem. he makes it clear to the audience the difference between the two of them that they have to overcome. how they overcome it is through dancing, which is a bit stupid, but we can get over that.
despite being a little cold towards Baby during the moments when he needs to, he opens up to her easily and is capable of deep vulnerability. i think this is part of his appeal as an attractive guy. i mean, it definitely helps that he's played by a young and gorgeous patrick swayze, but the way he acts is really what gets me. Johnny's perfect for Baby, and he treats her like she's precious when he starts to develop feelings for her.
#3: Dr. Houseman
Baby is characterized as a 'Daddy's girl' early on in the film. it's clear why she is that way by what an amazing father Dr. Houseman is to her. at the start of the film, he is seen as virtuous and funny. he clearly prioritizes helping people and has a lot of trust in Baby's decisions. by around the second half of the film, he serves as a force keeping Johnny and Baby away from one another. despite being an antagonist for a little while, his reasoning is crystal clear and totally justifyable. i feel like the usual father is overprotective of his daughter, banning her from being in relationships just to maintain his view of her (think 10 things i hate about you). Dr. Houseman is only protective of Baby because he thinks Johnny is responsible for Penny's pregnancy and botched abortion. if i was Baby's father, i wouldn't want my child near him either. he's a good guy, and he is just trying to keep his kids safe.
#4: the music
i swear to god i'm not just saying this, but i think this movie has the greatest soundtrack of all time. every song serves a purpose and has a connection to the plot.
- be my baby - the protagonist's name is Baby, there's a love story so someone's bound to ask her to be his
- big girls don't cry - kind of reinforces Baby's naivety, a very 60s song and it certainly sets me there
- do you love me - "do you love me now that i can dance?" i think that says everything about what's happening
- love man - "i'm a love man, call me the love man" such a cute song to put on while Baby meets Johnny
- hungry eyes - if you've seen the movie, you know this is perfect, but here's a link
- cry to me - again, watch the movie to see its significance, but here's a link
- love is strange - before, he was a lover man, now he's a lover boy, ughhhhhhh it's so good
- she's like the wind - he's a little bit more like the wind because he's driving away but it's okay
- the time of my life - pretty much the perfect movie ending basically, here's a link
i could go much more in depth with this, but i think that could be a whole blog post of its own.
in conclusion, dirty dancing is a really good movie. so so so much better than i can describe it in this blog entry, and i truly believe that society would be better if everyone watched it. it's a near perfect feel good, and i think it can cure any mental issue. please please please watch it. if you do, and it's because of me (which i doubt because i can't imagine anyone but myself paying attention to this blog), please let me know on my guestbook!
